Here's an easy New Year Resolution for you to keep.

Christmas and the holiday season has come ... and gone.  Decorations are down, the packaging and wrapping paper have gone on to recycling.  The gifts we've been given (or given ourselves during the Black Friday or Boxing Day sales) are in full use (or in storage)

Record those items' model, make, serial number and replacement price for insurance purposes.  

Snap a photo or take a quick video of each item along with its receipt (smart phones are perfect for this).  

Create a file to save on your computer or download it to a disc or clip to stash in your safety deposit box.

Now you have the peace of mind knowing that even if disaster strikes, you have a record of your treasured belongings, whether it's Grandma's silver set, your jewellry or wide-screen monitor (or all of the above!)
